Vanessa tameamea and Pipturus albidus
The Kamehameha butterfly, also known as pulelehua, is one of two species of butterfly that are endemic to Hawaii (all other species are introduced). It’s related to painted lady and admiral butterflies. I’ve depicted it with māmaki, one of its larval food plants, as this painting is one in a series of insects and host plants.
This 5.5” x 5.5″ giclee is printed with archival inks onto matte archival art paper (there is a white border around the image to allow for framing). It’s backed by foamcore board, and signed in pencil on the front.
Size (Unmatted, in Inches): 5.5″ x 5.5″
Year: 2019
