California Wildflowers in Green Original Painting

Green flowers often go unnoticed, outshined by their flashier cousins. And because green flowers often attract less glamourous pollinators like flies and midges (some of which are hard to see without magnification), initially I was stumped as to which pollinator I ought to include for this piece. Then one day my daughter suggested, “how about a monarch caterpillar? It will grow up to be a pollinator.” I took her excellent advice and painted a boldly striped monarch caterpillar on a stalk of milkweed.
