After red, orange was the next hue in my series of color-themed paintings. While our state flower, the California poppy, is fairly common, it turned out to be more challenging than I would have guessed to find truly orange wildflowers. I bent my own rules a bit to include sticky monkey flower and canyon live-forever, whose flowers are really more golden than orange. For my pollinator, I included a pale swallowtail sipping from the flowers of a leopard lily.

This 13” x 17″ giclee is printed with archival inks onto matte archival art paper. It’s backed by foamcore board, and signed in pencil on the front.
