California Wildflowers in Red Giclée Print

I have several (too many) field guides to wildflowers, and most of them are organized by flower color. Having painted a variety of red wildflowers over the years, I thought it would be interesting to digitally assemble them all in one composition, with a rufous hummingbird of course—hummingbirds have excellent color vision and are drawn to red flowers, which provide a reward of nectar in exchange for passing along pollen. I plan to continue this series throughout the rest of the spectrum.

This 10” x 14″ giclee is printed with archival inks onto matte archival art paper. It’s backed by foamcore board, and signed in pencil on the front.
