Trying to choose from the wild abundance of yellow wildflowers from my home state was a challenge—it was hard to winnow down my selection. Since bees are attracted to yellow flowers, I chose the yellow-faced bumblebee (Bombus vosnesenskii) as a pollinator for this piece. Seeing large, fuzzy queen bumblebees in early spring always signals that longer days are on the way.
