Calochortus venustus

My husband’s work often takes him to remote parts of California. After spending the day on a large private ranch in south Monterey County, he brought three of the most beautiful flowers I’d ever seen: butterfly mariposa lilies, members of the genus Calochortus (”beautiful grass” in Greek). Each Calochortus lily is beautiful in its own way, but useful too—Indigenous peoples harvested the bulbs for food.

This 6” x 9″ giclee is printed with archival inks onto matte archival art paper. It’s backed by foamcore board, and signed in pencil on the front.

Size (Unmatted, in Inches): 6″ x 9″

Year: 2010
